About *scape

Centralised, One-Stop Youth Hub
*scape is a non-profit charitable youth organisation that manages the *scape Youth Centre, *scape Youth Park, and *scape Skate Park in the heart of town at Somerset, where young people like to congregate. Creative programmes and events are the heartbeat of *scape, and its venues are designed to incubate and showcase youth talent. Programme genres like music, dance, theatre to visual arts, film, entrepreneurship, etc. reflect *scape’s ongoing efforts to engage youths in activities of creative exchange, education, and talent showcase.

Vision and Mission of *scape
*scape envisages itself to be the celebrated talent and resource hub for aspiring youth, offering diverse, cutting edge, and trend-setting possibilities for all young Singaporeans. Therefore it is *scape’s mission to be a platform for youth expression, an enabler of youth initiatives, and an engine for identifying, developing, and promoting youth talents.

Encouraging Youth Participation
*scape works closely with a team of passionate young volunteers who contribute their time and energy into its programmes. By taking ownership and spearheading these programmes and activities, *scape hopes for them to gain the experience, knowledge and skills that will help them succeed in their lives.Through peer-to-peer inspiration and friendship, *scape also aims to encourage youth participation and develop their spirit of volunteerism.

New *scape Building in 2010
Come 2010, *scape will be a 5-storey urban community space on a 1.2 hectare site next to Cineleisure Orchard that will encompass the conceptual spaces of GRID, WAREHOUSE, STUDIO, CACHE, PLAYGROUND and STREET+MARKET, making it the place for youth to congregate and network. The spaces in the building are designed for a density of activities that will bring about interaction with youth of diverse interests and ignite new ideas.

Youth Olympic Games
With Singapore’s winning bid to host the inaugural Youth Olympic Games in 2010, *scape will contribute greatly to the Games experience, being one of the venues for the Education and Culture Programme. Through these exciting programmes, youth from all over the world will come together to interact with our youth and celebrate the diversity of cultures.
